‘Priya Prakash Varrier’ The famous wink sensation who reside in millions of hearts by her ‘wink’ in the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ moved the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday and appealed for quashing of FIRs charged against her for offending the religious sentiments of Muslims.
She moved to the Supreme Court on Monday for finally putting an end to the various allegations and the FIR which actually had no base. The opposition has filed an FIR against the 18-year-old actress on Monday 19th February in the ‘Falaknama’ police station at Hyderabad.
Two more FIRs -one by the Raza Academy secretary with Mumbai Police and another at Jinsi police station in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad by Janjagran Samithi – forced Priya, along with director Omar Abdul Wahab and producer Joseph Valakuzhy Eapen to move the SC through advocate Haris Beeran.
Reasons Behind The Complaints
The ‘Wink’ song which gained 4.1 million of views in just 12 days of its release ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ from the movie ‘OruAddar Love’ has “violated the religious sentiment of a Muslim community”. This compelled the beautiful actress to visit the SC.
The actress kept her view saying that ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ is actually a folk song. It actually demonstrates and praises the love between the pious “Prophet Mohamed” and his first and beloved wife Khadeeja. The song wrote in the year 1978 by PMA Jabbar. It was first sung by Thalassery Rafeeq.
According to the plea, the allegations lay on the actress and the song in the movie is baseless. This is because the song is blissfully cherished by the Muslim Community in Kerala for more than 40 years.
Also, according to the sources the plea stated that “fringe elements have adversely affected the petitioner’s right to live, liberty, and freedom of expression under the Constitution”. This actually means that the song and the expressions of the Malayalam beauty nowhere hurt any religious sentiments. Hence, they need a protection from all sorts of FIR against them.
The Final Verdict
The FIR Lodging was filed by the opposition on 14th of February. Hearing for the case was on 19th February, where both the sides kept their explanations accordingly.
They highlight their point that already 1.5 Crores is on the stake on film ‘Oru Adaar Love’. The movie is yet not complete. “Such flimsy and baseless complaints and FIRs cause nothing but a hindrance to the freedom of speech and expression,” the petitioners said.
Supreme Court stays all criminal proceedings against the beautiful actress Priya Prakash Varrier for ‘wink song’ across India. So, happiness again comes from the teenage actress and the whole team of the movie ‘Oru Adaar Love”.
